One Mac or a cluster?
A single Mac is simpler. A cluster pays off when work can be split into jobs that run side by side.
| One dedicated Mac | Mac cluster | |
|---|---|---|
| Parallel jobs | One machine takes jobs in turn | Jobs spread across many nodes |
| Long queues | Wait time grows with the queue | Wait time shrinks as nodes are added |
| If a machine fails | Work stops until it is fixed | Other nodes keep working |
| Growing | Move to a bigger Mac | Move to a larger cluster |
| Hardware care | Casbay hosts one Mac | Casbay hosts and networks every node |
| Best for | Light or steady workloads | Large or bursty workloads |
Rent your Mac cluster in three steps
- Pick a cluster size
Choose a 4-node or 10-node cluster, a 6 or 12-month term and an IP type, then contact our team to place your order.
- We build and network it
Each cluster is built to order. We set up your dedicated nodes on a private network, tell you the delivery timeline, and send the connection details for each one.
- Connect and run
Sign in to any node with root SSH, DeskIn or Apple Remote Desktop and start your jobs.
Questions about renting a Mac cluster
What is a Mac cluster at Casbay?
A Mac cluster is a group of dedicated Mac mini M4 Pro machines that you rent together, hosted in Casbay's Malaysia data center and joined by a private network. Each node is real hardware that only you use.
Which cluster sizes can I rent?
There are two sizes: 4 nodes and 10 nodes. Every node is a Mac mini M4 Pro with a 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 64GB of unified memory and 1TB of SSD storage.
Is a cluster one big Mac?
No. Each node is a separate Mac with its own memory and storage. Your software or job scheduler decides how work is split across the nodes, for example parallel builds, test runs or distributed AI tasks.
How fast is the network?
The nodes talk to each other over a private 80Gbps Thunderbolt 5 network, and the cluster has a 10Gbps internet connection. Traffic between nodes does not travel over the public internet.
How much does it cost to rent a Mac cluster?
A 4-node cluster costs $1,200 per month and a 10-node cluster costs $3,000 per month. Clusters are offered on 6-month and 12-month terms only, and the price is the same for static and dynamic IP.
What is the difference between a static IP and a residential dynamic IP?
A static IP is a single fixed address that stays with your machine for the whole rental. A residential dynamic IP comes from home-style address ranges and can change over time.
Which IP type should I choose?
Pick static if other systems need to recognise your Mac by a stable address, for example CI/CD runners, firewall allowlists, DNS or code signing. Pick residential dynamic for geo-testing, rotating exit points or traffic that should resemble an ordinary home connection.
How do I connect to the nodes?
Every node supports root SSH for the command line, plus DeskIn and Apple Remote Desktop for a full macOS desktop session. Casbay sends the connection details for each node once the cluster is ready.
How long does it take to set up a Mac cluster?
Each cluster is built and networked to order, so delivery time depends on the cluster size and current stock. Contact the Casbay team and we will confirm the setup timeline before you commit.
Do you offer refunds?
No. All Mac cluster rentals are non-refundable. Payments are not returned once an order is placed, including if you cancel or stop using the cluster before the billing period ends. Please check your cluster size and IP type before you order, and contact the Casbay team if you have questions.
