basically giving everyone a hint as to what this piece of content is about. This goes for both Google and human beings. Every person, algorithm, and bot can decode that information.<\/li><li><code>http:\/\/www.YOURSITE.com\/?p=27<\/code>\u00a0\u2013 then no one knows anything. But the task\u00a0is two-fold:<\/p><ol><li>You\u00a0<strong>need to set the permalink structure<\/strong>\u00a0right after you launch a new WordPress site.<\/li><li>You should set the\u00a0<strong>permalinks for every piece\u00a0of content<\/strong>\u00a0individually.<\/li><\/ol><p>In that scenario, #1 will give your site the right structure to work with for the future. There\u2019s just the post name that you can control 100% (more on that in the next point).<\/p><p><em>Note. Why you don\u2019t want dates in your permalinks? The main reason is that dates discourage your visitors from reading your older content. These are permalinks ending with .html or .php extension.<\/p><p>A user migrates his website with a .html extension in the post\u2019s URL and wants to keep everything almost exactly the same.
