Length is key. Create lengthy passwords of at least 10 characters!<\/li><li><strong>DO Create Unique Passwords<\/strong>: Each password you use should be for a unique service (ex. cPanel, MySQL, and your bank account should all have different passwords).<\/li><li><strong>DO Use a Combination of Character Types<\/strong>: Use numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters and symbols in your password. (ex.\u00a0<em>XkeDZaJ6QG3E8!jKq3%yIOd3<\/em>)<\/li><li>Change your passwords\u00a0<strong>at least<\/strong>\u00a0every six months<\/li><li><strong>DO Randomly Generate the Password<\/strong>: Use one of the following sites to generate a secure password:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/identitysafe.norton.com\/password-generator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Norton by Symantec<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.random.org\/passwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Random.org<\/a>, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/passwordsgenerator.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" link=\"external\" class=\"broken_link\">Random Password Generator<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h6><strong>DO NOTs<\/strong>.<\/h6><ul><li><strong>etc.<\/strong>: We\u2019re absolutely sure your dog is adorable. But, her name probably isn\u2019t a good password. Unless her name is\u00a0<em>Tmb1W&gt;r~ii<\/em>, then that\u2019s cool.<\/li><li><strong>DO NOT Reuse Passwords<\/strong>: Let\u2019s say your first password for an account was\u00a0<em>gCB7%TT^Vm<\/em>\u00a0but you were forced to change your password, so you changed it to\u00a0<em>v8@#TsVaiQ<\/em>. If you have to change the password for that account again, do NOT go back to\u00a0<em>gCB7%TT^Vm<\/em>. But, a long password is difficult to crack, and can be crafted from some common piece of information. A joke, a hobby, a book\/movie quote, or an interest of some sort can be used as the basis for a secure password. Take the quote, \u201cLife \u2014 uh \u2014 finds a way,\u201d from Jurassic Park. We can build this into a secure password by changing out some characters and adding a few numbers:\u00a0<em>L1f3-;uH;-F1nd54wAy!<\/em>\u00a0That\u2019s a secure password that would be much easier to remember.<\/p><p>Password Managers can remember passwords for users. Keep in mind, however, that a Password Manager is a gateway to ALL of your passwords.
